As you may know, some very popular foods could lead to problems with your breath. For that reason—along with a few others—many people tend to use breath mints and chewing gum to freshen their breath. While these are useful options, they only mask bad breath without addressing the root of the problem. In other words, if you’re interested in improving your breath, you may want to consider using mouthwash.
Please note that bad breath caused by certain foods, such as coffee or garlic, is typically temporary. In these instances, a breath mint or sugarless gum can be extremely useful. However, halitosis—which is another name for bad breath—could be a sign of significant problems.
Luckily, mouthwashes can do far more than simply freshen your breath. In fact, did you know that mouthwash can actually help you fight off gum disease and prevent tooth decay? And if you’ve ever had tooth decay or gum disease, certain types of mouthwash could be even more useful. Adding mouthwash to your nightly routine can also help you keep your teeth and mouth cleaner.
However, while adding mouthwash to your usual oral routine can be helpful, please note that there are several types of mouthwash, and not all of them may be right for you.
We recommend speaking with our dentist, Dr. Lin Wong before you decide on the best mouthwash for you. If you’re interested in scheduling an appointment with us, please feel free to contact Wong Dental at 626-709-3332. We’re eager to hear from you soon!
